Return Of Ramadan

The holy month has once again arrived. But the real question arises is, do we really know what Ramadan means ?
Is it just to starve the whole of daylight ?
Is it to keep ourselves the most in bed, to avaid feeling the hunger?
Is it to sit in front of the TV and watch all the serials broadcasted ?
Is it to just have a heavy meal of different types of dishes at iftar ?
Or is it to stay awake and enjoy the late night city life, with all the festivals going by?
???????

Ramadan being the only month in the year, I find the mosques filled with worshippers at all 5 times of prayers. But where do these worshippers disappear once Ramadan is over ? Is it said that Salah is obligatory only for Ramadan? Salah, is an everyday compulsory routine in the life of every muslim. Infact one should take full advantage of this holy month to get closer to Allah, and continue doing so throughout the remaining days of their life.

In a country like here, one can easily find a mosque within every 500 metres. Yet hardly anyone does spare a few mintues in remmberace of Allah. From sunrise till sunset we all use the words Alhumdulillah, Inshallah, Subhanallah, Istagfirullah........but do we mean what we say or is it just part of the conversation? Every muslim does know, and need not to be reminded on how we can get close to Allah. Yet we only remember Allah, when we have a problem or a situation with no solution.

Questions and questions will all keep arising from every corner of the world. But there is no question that is left unanswered in Islam. With the grace of Allah, we have been given another chance to step on the right path and should take every possible advantage from the coming 30 days, for no one has witnessed tomorrow.

What is Ramadan & Why do we Fast ?????

Since the start Ramadan, I have been asked by a couple of humans, " Why do we torture ourselves with hunger, during Ramadan ?"

Hearing this question from a non-muslim was real nice, as the person seemed intresting in knowing about Islam. But in the last 2 weeks I found more than a dozen of muslims who also never knew what Ramadan meant. For them it was more like a tradition being followed back home.

Plus this year, what shocked me most was to see less people in mosques,(though population is rapidly increasing every year). During the tarawi prayer, I recall roads all clear and infact there was a trouble finding parking near the mosques, moreover finding a place inside the mosque was difficult. But this Ramadan, evrything was opposite, people busy more in the wants of their everyday life and mosques having ample of empty space.

For the question What is Ramdan and why do we actually fast.................................

Ramdan being the ninth and the blessed month, we muslims all over the world abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs during the daylight hours. As a time to purify the soul, refocus attention on God, and practice self-sacrifice, Ramadan is much more than just not eating and drinking.

Muslims are called upon to use this month to re-evaluate their lives in light of Islamic guidance. We are to make peace with those who have wronged us, strengthen ties with family and friends, do away with bad habits -- essentially to clean up our lives, our thoughts, and our feelings. The Arabic word for "fasting" (sawm) literally means "to refrain" - and it means not only refraining from food and drink, but from evil actions, thoughts, and words.

During Ramadan, every part of the body must be restrained. The tongue must be restrained from backbiting and gossip. The eyes must restrain themselves from looking at unlawful things. The hand must not touch or take anything that does not belong to it. The ears must refrain from listening to idle talk or obscene words. The feet must refrain from going to sinful places. In such a way, every part of the body observes the fast.

Therefore, fasting is not merely physical, but is rather the total commitment of the person's body and soul to the spirit of the fast. Ramadan is a time to practice self-restraint; a time to cleanse the body and soul from impurities and re-focus one's self on the worship of God.

Infact we all should be lucky enough that we have got to live and do the best in this month. No ones seen tomorrow. So never wait for it, do the most you can today.

From Amristar To Arabia

Originating from the unique caste of the over smart Sardars. The Punjabi’s have increased in numbers in the growing years. Here in the Emirates there was a time when a lot of them were recruited in government sectors, (military, water & electricity dept, etc…). With time many moved out to UK and the leftovers started doing businesses. Today these leftovers have reached in making a luxurious life for themselves. This entire rise was not done through their own sweat and hard work, but by sucking the blood and money out from their own colleagues, friends, relatives or be it any innocent stranger they found to loot.

In short they can be described as Two Faces. Taking complete advantage of being Muslims, they easily make someone win their trust. I have personally seen them swear in the name of Allah, their parents, but those were just words disappearing in the air. I feel the sardars, may be considered dumb, but are even more honest and hard working than these hypocrites. Good thing they were kicked out of India.

Among the expats they are a very showoff type. Widely can be seen driving on the roads in Honda Accords and Civics. Nowadays Punjabi music has also become quite popular in discos, concerts or even heard on the roads from passing by cars with their volume to the top. Their songs are completely un-understandable, yet the public goes hip hopping around. A good English song is mixed with some cheap beats and an awful singer sings making that song reach a mark in the top ten charts.

And in a shopping mall, they can be visible with spiky hair styles, a sunglass (be it daytime or night) hanging on their head and tight clothes, plus above all talking English, in an European accent as if their forefathers originated from Europe. Seems that they totally forgotten their forefathers strolling around in a vest and a wizaar along with long moustaches.

Extremely professionals in making stories and in every story it’s a must they are the hero. Never from their mouths does something true comes out. Speak out an incident which had occurred with you and they will come up with an interesting story from nowhere too, after all their reputation matters.

Visit any used car showroom in Abu Shagara or in Al Aweer, they will hypnotize you with their words and make you purchase a scrap piece. Used car dealers, scrap yards, restaurants, butchers, trailer drivers and private driving instructors are their top businesses. Humanity, for them means money and Honesty means betrayal. As long as you shower them with cash, they will dance for you. The day cash flow stops, they will be no longer visible.

The Tijaari Muwatins

Like today, for medical treatment locals travel to European countries, there was a season some years back, when Hyderabad, India, was a famous treatment spot. Almost every local would travel to India for treatment. But I guess traveling for treatment was just an excuse, as every local returned back, married to a young Hyderabadi girl of aged no more than 13 or 14 years. Some of these men were even in their late 70’s. Having half a leg in the grave, how could one actually get married to someone the age of their grandchildren?

Well the locals are not the ones to be blamed; offer them anything and will accept it with great pleasure. If there is someone guilty, it’s the girl’s family. They themselves use their daughters as baits to hunt these innocent people. Once they succeed, then slowly every cash flow gets transferred to their account and they become the Sheiks of India.

How to identify these Hyderabadis? Time had passed and these little girls are now grown up women. They themselves and their children can all be very easily identified from their dark face structure and not to forget their huge abnormal sizes. Only god knows what the secret of their diet is. They all have a shaggy beard, hair not set and mostly strolling around in their jalabis. Is the Emirates out of water?

Not that they are poor or broke. They all are just ba7eel. Request them for financial help, be it an amount of 10 Dirhams, and they will come up with a million emotional excuses, and you will end up giving 100 Dirhams in return. During Islamic occasions, when charity organizations give away support to the needy within the Emirates, these people are in queue with their GMC’s, filling it with the whole year’s ration. In short, wherever you find “FREE” inscribed, for sure you will find these Hyderabadi Muwatins.

Plus their Arabic is still not 100% perfect, they pressurize their throat while speaking, but still lack the perfectness. Another easy way to identify them is a lot of them have a liking to keep American cars, Caprice or GMC. Unlike other immigrants who have gained the UAE nationality, these people consider themselves as of a high cast. Why? I’m still trying to know that myself. Like earlier I had written that there are some Balushis, who do not disclose their identity, these people are even worse. They will never speak Hindi with any human kind, be it a stranger or their own family member, nor are cooperative at all. If you ever face one, don’t waste time in trying your luck. Better approach an office boy, he would turn out more cooperative than them.

From Nomads To Mads

One of the earlier nomadic settlers even before the U.A.E. came into existence. The Balushis, can be more better identified as the most laziest tribe on this planet. Their origin comes back from Baluchistan, a land from where they themselves have been deprived off. More than 50% of the U.A.E. locals are Balushis, yet more than 80% of them do not reveal their true identity.

A very famous saying goes among them, “A Baluch never does slavery”. Whether they are told to do something for a living or given a task in life to do, they come up saying this dialogue. The most important thing they do in life is, doing nothing in life and are found hanging out all over the Emirates after midnight. With the rise of the sun, they go in their beds. Guess they just following an old English saying “Early to bed, Early to rise”. For sure they do go to bed real early in the morning.

No matter if they are illiterate, unemployed or working in a very low post, yet they live a life no less than of a Sheikh. Nothing can ever match their tastes. Not having a single fils in their wallet, they are seen driving around in luxurious cars, possessing the latest mobiles, watches, clothes and spending on others.
Wonder where all this cash is coming in from when not having anything? Well this is the secret of being a Balushi :D

The most famous gangsters of the Emirates are the Balushis. Nowadays you will find alot of Bangalis imitating them, but these poor people are always hit back by their natural looks, as can easily be identified. Wherever there is an illegal thing to be done, the Balushis are always the first in the queue. Be it Bustan of Ajman, Umm Khanoor of Sharjah or even Satwa of Dubai, they are very well recognized for their good deeds.

The Balushis, who do realize what life means; settle back and start their production company. One marriage is never enough and it’s a challenge among them to have the highest number of wives and children.

But one advantage of being a Balushi in Emirates is WASTA. Just having the surname “Balushi” it’s enough to sort out any problem.

The Tale Of The RED LICENSE PLATE

Possessing a red license plate, be it a Lamborghini or an Echo, a local or an expat, you can find them driving on the roads as if it belongs to their fathers. Just coz of that tin plate they talk as if they know everything and feel themselves too much superior than the rest. Back on the roads, if by mistake you do request them to give way; they in return will just slow down their speed than the dead speed they already are driving, and ignore the increasing number of cars behind. Will go to any extent to annoy other drivers on the road.

They act as if they are the law creators and are exceptional from following the laws. But I have seen plenty back on Emirates Highway, begging to be forgiven for breaking the law. Forgiven or fined, they are a dog’s tail, which never can be straightened.

A best solution when you face such drivers not giving way. Be kind and overtake without disturbing them, and once in front, you’re the KING. Go ahead and hit the brakes on their face or drive like an ass as they were doing. This may make no difference between you and them, but with a dog, one has to be a dog. Be it a road of 100km/hr or 80km/hr, these people will drive at a speed no more than 40 or even lesser.

The Worst thing they always do is block the fast track. Least bothered if someone is in an emergency or has some importance to move faster. These big red head drivers, are least bothered to change tracks. Do the same to them and they will go psycho, catch up abusing you, teaching the road law or will try to scare one by bringing their cars close enough to cause an accident.

Remember one rule while driving- No one will ever want their vehicle to have a dent. So next time if you find someone bringing his car closer, scaring you that he is going hit you. Never move away, instead move in closer yourself. Freak him away.

Above all this, these drivers have no patience. If there is a blocked road, they use the hard shoulder. If there’s a queue on a U-Turn, they go all the way ahead and jump in. Give them way, they don’t even bother saying thanks. Request for way, they will stick their car bumper to bumper with the car ahead, just a relief they find in not cooperating on roads. Everywhere they want themselves to be the first.

They may have their power back in AD, (which they don’t in reality) but once out of their borders, their power and style is all over. Every weekend the red plates can be spotted girl-watching and giving away their numbers back in Sharjah bu7aira, in old Souq and in Ajman corniche. But it’s quite fun watching them, especially when they are rejected. To make the whole scene even more enjoyable, just crack up laughing loud, letting them know they were being watched.

If you ever get to see any vehicle with a red license registration outside AD, make sure you take out the guts of that driver, whether innocent or not. Just Do It!
